The "990 Version Series" was announced in anticipation of the 40th-anniversary year in 2022, a special model that reissued past versions of the flagship model "990." The upper features pigskin suede from Wolverine and mesh material dyed in a chic original gray, with vibrant ruby red accents. Special specifications include details such as ruby red tags, an insert designed with the image of the clock tower at the New Balance factory in Lawrence, Massachusetts, an original shoe box inspired by the specifications at the time of release, and accessories such as gray, dark gray, and ruby red spare shoelaces.
