A series of photographs by Stockholm-born photographer Anders Petersen documenting the nightlife in a Hamburg bar. This series, considered Petersen's origin, was also used for Tom Waits' album cover, "Rain Dogs." A reprint of Anders Petersen's masterpiece.
In 1968, photographer Anders Petersen, at a dive bar on Hamburg's Reeperbahn, grabbed his camera from the table and began taking pictures. Petersen used this opportunity to photograph the perpetrators and the diverse regulars who frequented the bar. This project, which depicts the desolate city of the late 1960s, is one of the most respected photobooks and forms the foundation of Petersen's brilliant career. The photographs have become classics in the genre, including their use on the cover of Tom Waits' legendary album "Rain Dogs." Their candor and authenticity remain as eloquent today as they were when published in 1978. This deluxe reprint includes a new preface by Waits and is sure to gain new readers, appreciating the beautiful analog photographs and the elegant collective portraits of people living on the fringes of society. 112 pages, 24x22cm, 88 photos, hardcover.
